The assistant
Ask Stitchwork is an assistant on every page of the app. It answers from your own customers, orders, quotes and diary — briefs you before a visit, finds who is worth a call, and drafts the message. It never sends anything, and nothing it suggests is saved until a person says yes.
What it does
Open it from the Ask Stitchwork button in the corner of any page and ask in your own words. On a customer's record it offers shortcuts for that person — Brief me on…, Draft a follow-up to…, What next with…? — and elsewhere the playbooks: Plan my day, Prepare today's appointments, Who has gone quiet?, How did the week go?
- Briefings. What a customer is worth, what they have been looking at, the quote still open, what your team last wrote about them and what they were last sent.
- Finding people. Abandoned baskets, people circling the same product, good customers gone quiet, balances owed — from the same lists as Leads.
- Drafts. A message to one customer, by email, text or WhatsApp. It appears as a card with Review & send, which opens the customer's composer with the words filled in. You edit it, and you press Send — or you don't.
- Suggestions that change records. A note on a customer, a follow-up on a colleague's list, a draft nudge. Each one waits in the conversation with Approve and Not now; nothing is written until somebody approves it.
What it can see
Exactly what the person asking can see in the app, and no more. An associate scoped to one store gets answers about that store; an owner gets the workspace. It reads through the same tools an MCP connection uses, with the same rules — every answer is the minimum needed for the question, and hashed IP addresses, user agents and raw records never reach it.
There is no tool that sends a message, and none that changes or deletes anything. A draft only reaches a customer after a person opens it on the customer's record and presses Send — and the message is marked as drafted with AI on the record, so the next person knows.
Credits
The assistant is metered in credits. A credit is a penny's worth at list price: a quick question costs a few, a morning briefing across a whole diary might cost forty. The panel shows what is left, and every answer says what it cost.
| Bucket | How much | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly allowance | 2,000 credits a month on Independent, 6,000 on Collection; 1,000 during the free trial | Used first. Resets on the 1st of each month; unused credit does not roll over. |
| Credit you buy | Packs of 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000 at a penny a credit | Never expires. The owner buys it in Settings → AI, by card. Buying credit does not change your plan. |
Settings → AI also shows who used how much this month. When the balance runs out the assistant says so and stops; nothing else in Stitchwork is affected.
Switching it off
An owner or admin can turn the assistant off for the whole workspace in Settings → AI. Off means no customer data reaches an AI model from inside Stitchwork. Connections your team made with their own AI clients are separate, and are managed on the MCP tab.
Where your data goes
The assistant runs on Claude, a model made by Anthropic, through Anthropic's API. To answer a question it sends Anthropic the question, the conversation so far, and the tool results needed to answer — shaped to the minimum, as above. Anthropic processes that under its commercial terms for API customers; Stitchwork does not train a model on your data. Conversations are kept in your workspace so you can pick one up again, and each person sees only their own.
